💅 How To Apply Waterslide Nail Decals

✨ Before You Begin: Prepare Your Nails

A smooth surface is the key to a flawless decal application.

For Gel Nails:

  1. Apply your gel polish color and cure completely under your LED/UV lamp.

  2. Make sure your gel surface is smooth and free of dust, oils, or bumps.

  3. If your gel polish has a sticky inhibition layer, lightly wipe it with alcohol before applying your decal.

  4. Avoid applying decals over a rough or uneven surface, as this can cause wrinkles or bubbles.

For Acrylic, Gel-X, or Press-On Nails:

  1. Shape and buff your nail surface until smooth.

  2. Remove all dust with a nail brush or lint-free wipe.

  3. Apply your desired base color and allow it to dry or cure completely before adding your decal.

For Natural Nails:

  1. Prep your nails by cleaning away oils and residue.

  2. Apply your base coat and nail color.

  3. Allow your polish to fully dry before applying your decal.

💧 Step 1: Choose & Cut Your Design

Select the decal you want to use and carefully cut around the design.

💦 Step 2: Activate Your Waterslide Decal

Place your decal face-up in room-temperature water for approximately 10–20 seconds.

The decal should loosen from the backing paper and slide easily.

✨ Do not leave your decal soaking too long, as it can make the design harder to handle.

💅 Step 3: Slide the Decal Onto Your Nail

Using tweezers, a silicone tool, or your fingertip:

  1. Hold the backing paper near your nail.

  2. Gently slide the decal onto your nail surface.

  3. Carefully position the design exactly where you want it.

Take your time during this step—the decal can usually be adjusted while it is still wet.
